• Arriva is one of the top three operators in Portugal
  • We run bus services in the north of the country and to the south of Lisbon

In the north of the country, around Oporto, Arriva’s Transportes LDA runs urban and inter-urban bus services.

Arriva’s Transportes Sul do Tejo (TST) is a major operator of scheduled bus and coach services in the growing commuter region to the south of Lisbon, an area of some 600 square miles. It also operates schools and commercial business contracts in the region.

Arriva has a 31.5 per cent stake in the Barraqueiro, the leading Portuguese public transport operator, which runs urban, inter-urban and long-distance bus services and is the only private company to hold a rail concession through Fertagus.

Our growth in Portugal

Arriva acquires a 21.5 per cent stake in Barraqueiro Group SGPS SA, the leading Portuguese passenger transport operator.

Arriva completes its purchase of Transportes Sul do Tejo by acquiring Barraqueiro Group's remaining 49 per cent interest.

Arriva acquires a 51 per cent stake in Transportes Sul do Tejo, the major operator of scheduled bus and coach services to the south of Lisbon in Portugal (increased to 100 per cent in 2003).
