Leading UK bus operator Arriva announces the appointment of Alex Perry as managing director of its Arriva Midlands business.

Alex joins Arriva UK Bus following seven years at National Express Group, latterly as operations director for its UK Coach division. He began his career as a graduate trainee at FirstGroup, and, following subsequent appointments at management and director levels, he became managing director of its business in Bristol, Somerset and Avon.

Arriva Midlands employs more than 1,900 people and provides more than 56 million passenger journeys a year. It operates commercial and contracted bus services throughout Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Telford & Wrekin, Stoke on Trent, Warwickshire and Wrexham.

Alex Perry said: “This is a very exciting opportunity and I look forward to building on the success and achievements made by the business.

Alex starts his new role at Arriva on 3 September 2012. He replaces Bob Hind, who retires at the end of July 2012 and who has held the position of managing director at the business since 2007.
