Arriva completes Eurobus acquisition
16 July 2008
Leading European transport operator Arriva today announced it has completed the purchase of 80 per cent of Interbus Invest*, the holding company of Eurobus Invest**, which provides bus services in Hungary and Slovakia.
Completion of the deal, announced on 14 April 2008, follows the recent clearance by the Slovak Merger Authority. It takes the number of countries in which Arriva operates to 12.
Arriva chief executive David Martin said: “This latest acquisition means we now have a controlling stake in an established business in two exciting new markets which have real potential for growth.
“The Eurobus management team has valuable specific knowledge of operating transport services in Hungary and Slovakia. Their market insights combined with Arriva’s experience of developing country by country across Europe gives us all the capabilities we need to develop these opportunities with confidence.”
