Arriva welcomes latest UK rail industry performance report
17 December 2007
Arriva, one of Europe’s largest transport services organisations, has welcomed the latest National Rail Trends report published by the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR).
Latest industry train performance figures indicate that the group’s Arriva Trains Wales (ATW) business remains the UK’s most improved rail operator with 92.3 per cent of its services arriving on time, representing a 6.6 per cent improvement on the same period in the previous year.
Bob Holland, Arriva’s managing director – UK Trains who has overall responsibility for the ATW and CrossCountry rail franchises, said: “Driving up performance at our franchises is always a key priority.
“This is the second industry report in a row which indicates that we have continued to improve the punctuality and reliability of our ATW services. Through our team of professional people, we are now consistently delivering the real improvements that we promised our customers and other stakeholders.
“These figures are clearly good news, but there is still more to do. By working with industry partners, ATW will continue to focus on opportunities to further improve the quality of services for our customers.”
Bob continued: “On 11 November, our CrossCountry business started operating. Whilst the latest ORR report does not cover the new CrossCountry rail franchise, thanks to the hard work of our employees the business has got off to a smooth start with 86.3 per cent of our train operating on time in the first four weeks of the business.”
The Arriva group also operates rail services in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden.
