Arriva delighted at Fastrack award
26 July 2007
Arriva are delighted that the Fastrack service in Kent Thameside has won the “Bus” award at the UK’s National Transport Awards in London.
The award was received by Kent County Council (KCC) on 17 July and reflects the hard work and innovation that has gone in to developing the successful Fastrack Bus Rapid Transit system. Fastrack underpins the long term vision of KCC and other partners within the Kent Thameside Delivery Board for sustainable regeneration in the Dartford and Gravesend area.
Arriva, who operate the two Fastrack routes, are sure where the success lies. Kevin Hawkins, Commercial Director said “The success of Fastrack has been due to the close partnerships in Kent Thameside which allow excellent planning and fast problem solving to ensure that the service remains a high quality operation. The first year of Fastrack has been a stunning success and we look forward to developing public transport in Dartford and Gravesend even further”
KCC Fastrack Project Manager David George agreed: “Our aim with Fastrack is to provide an attractive and credible alternative to the car for local journeys. We are achieving this through the combined efforts of all our partners, not least the Fastrack operator, Arriva. This award is a testament to that hard work and success.”
