Arriva acquires second bus operator in Czech Republic
31 January 2007
Leading European passenger transport group Arriva plc, today announced the acquisition of Czech Republic bus operator Bosak Bus s.r.o. for a cash payment of £1.1 million and the assumption of £0.7 million debt.
With revenue of some £2.1 million, Bosak Bus s.r.o. is a privately-held company which operates 50 buses to the south west of Prague, and employs 64 people.
David Martin, chief executive of Arriva plc, said:
This acquisition strengthens our position in the Czech Republic, particularly in the Greater Prague area, following our entry into the market with the acquisition of Transcentrum Bus s.r.o. at the end of last year.
The Czech transport market began to open up in the 1990s. With the country's entry into the European Union the timing is right to be part of this market as it continues to evolve and we are well-placed to do so through our new acquisitions. We look forward to working with the management and employees of this successful business.
