Arriva’s ‘HOST’ new passenger scheme

6 July 2006

Arriva's passengers have the chance to nominate their favourite drivers for a new awards scheme and tell bosses how the bus routes in the Luton and Dunstable area are performing.

Initially 35 regular users have agreed to update Arriva on a weekly basis on how they think things are going and the figure is likely to increase over the coming months.

The How's Our Service Today? scheme (HOST) will ask people about reliability, driver attitude, driving standards, vehicle comfort and cleanliness.

Those who have been chosen to take part have previously independently contacted Arriva to give their opinions on bus services.

Maq Alibhai, district operations manager at Arriva's Luton depot, said:

To make sure we keep up our high standards and improve our services the most important people to speak to are our passengers.
They know what is good about our buses and what if anything needs to be changed.
This scheme gives them this chance on a weekly basis. As part of this they can also nominate their favourite drivers for a new awards scheme so that the good work our staff do is also recognised.

The depot, based in Dunstable Road, Luton, runs approximately 35 services across the area.

Earlier this year an independent GFK NOP survey of over 2,600 people found Arriva had a 90 per cent satisfaction rate with its customers across the Shires and Essex .

This followed Arriva's £2.4 million investment in new and refurbished buses as well as £1 million to make 757 Green Line coach services into central London wheelchair friendly.
