Arriva Midlands has again been successful in the prestigious UK Bus Awards achieving runner up in the Operating Excellence Award - large fleet and also won the top accolade in its joint bid with Telford & Wrekin Borough Council for the Integration Award.

The ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane , London on Wednesday 1 November.

Arriva Midlands had been nominated for the Operating Excellence Award – large fleet for demonstrating excellence in customer care, marketing and initiatives for staff retention, as well as addressing competently and consistently all essential operational criteria. Arriva Midlands impressed the judges with its praiseworthy schemes for delivering customer satisfaction, equal opportunities and employee satisfaction, training and more effective recruitment and selection. The judges also said it was encouraging to see a substantial investment in new vehicles in combination with major network revisions designed to generate passenger growth and modal shift.

Arriva Midlands and the Borough of Telford & Wrekin were jointly nominated for the Integration Award. By implementing infra structure improvements and fast reliable bus services linking the rail and bus stations, this scheme has provided an excellent example of bus/rail integration. The scheme has also raised awareness of all bus services serving the railway station to the extent that, within a year of its introduction, the number of bus passengers alighting at the railway station had increased by around 80 per cent. The judges felt that the partners in this scheme could be justly proud of their partnership.
