Arriva supports fun day – that has serious message too!
22 July 2005
Arriva London, the local authority, Metropolitan Police, Fire Service and Shrublands community association are hoping to combat anti-social behaviour and raise awareness of safety at a community fun day event held on the estate today (22 July)
Dave Jones, commercial support manager for Arriva London, said:
With the long light nights and the school summer holidays stretching ahead for weeks, we wanted to talk to local parents and ask them to take five minutes of their time to help remind their children about the dangers of 'fooling around' on or near the roadway.
Arriva London is also keen to help the children understand how vandalism can affect the company's ability to operate bus services, for example if vehicles have to be off the road for repair.
Dave Jones added:
We also want local children to understand that if they become involved in vandalising or damaging any property, it will lead to a prosecution - and they could end up with a criminal record.
