Arriva named top ten by BiTC's race for opportunity awards
29 June 2005
Arriva plc has been named as one of Business in the Community's (BiTC's) top ten overall performers in the Race for Opportunity (RfO) awards announced today (28 June 2005).
RfO recognises efforts that organisations make to ensure that their workforce is diverse and that differences are valued and understood.
The top ten is compiled by benchmarking organisations against each other in terms of the importance they place on diversity, and the practical processes put in place to encourage applications for employment and improve the overall experience that a person of ethnic minority has when dealing with the business concerned.
Alison O'Connor, human resources development director, Arriva plc, said:
We are very pleased to be recognised in BiTC's Race for Opportunity Awards. We are committed to valuing and welcoming difference in our employees and are striving to achieve greater diversity throughout our workforce in the UK and in continental Europe.
The other organisations listed in the top ten are:
Lloyds TSB, West Bromwich Building Society; BT; HSBC Bank plc; HBOS plc; Royal Bank of Scotland Group; British Army; Barclays Bank, and Pearson plc.
