Working together to deliver further improvements to the Traws Cambria network – partners introduce new buses on the X94

21 March 2005

Arriva North West and Wales , in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government, is introducing new buses and more journeys onto the X94 (Wrexham to Barmouth) service - part of the Traws Cambria network.

The five new vehicles, funded by Arriva, the Welsh Assembly Government and local authorities, feature low floor easy access, improved coach style seating, and CCTV to improve customer safety. And for the first time, all buses have exterior bicycle racks helping local people and tourists make the most of the beautiful countryside. Arriva also promises a more frequent service - there will now be 12 journeys, instead of 9, per day between Wrexham and Barmouth.

Bob Hind, managing director for Arriva North West and Wales , said:

We are very pleased to work with the Welsh Assembly Government to improve customers' travelling experience further with the introduction of these new buses to the X94 service.
The new vehicles are all low floor, easy access, making them easier to board both for people with limited mobility and those with pushchairs.
The new buses demonstrate our commitment to working in partnership to deliver real, measurable improvements for our customers on the Traws Cambria network.

Tamsin Dunwoody-Kneafsey, Deputy Economic Development and Transport Minister said:

The Welsh Assembly Government is investing heavily in all forms of transport and public transport plays an essential part of our integrated strategy. I'm very pleased that we have been able to support the introduction of these new buses and a more frequent service, as the Traws Cambria is an important service for people travelling across Wales.
