Arriva appoints Liz as deputy company secretary

Arriva plc is strengthening its company secretarial team with the appointment of Liz Thorpe as deputy company secretary. Liz will take responsibility for a number of key projects including work on pensions and corporate governance.

Company secretary, David Turner, said of the appointment:

I am delighted that someone with the wealth and breadth of experience that Liz holds is joining us at Arriva. I'm sure that she will be an invaluable asset to the company as it continues its development.

Liz, a former Heaton Grammar School student, has held previous roles at Whitbread plc, BG plc and Thames Water plc brings with her substantial experience of plc company secretarial work.

Liz is looking forward to joining Arriva and said of her appointment:

I am delighted to be joining Arriva at such an exciting time for the business.
As deputy company secretary I will spend much of my time on project work such as schemes for employees, pensions, and corporate governance.
There are a number of challenges involved in working for such a large and innovative plc and I am looking forward to getting on with what I'm sure will prove to be an exciting and rewarding role.

Liz is relocating to Lanchester near Durham , from Reading , and has two grown up daughters.
