MP gets insight into capital city’s railway station
18 March 2004
Cardiff North Member of Parliament Julie Morgan visited Cardiff Central this week to meet managers and employees at Wales' busiest railway station.
Mrs Morgan, a member of the Parliamentary Welsh Affairs Select Committee at Westminster , took the opportunity for a behind the scenes tour following an open invitation
During the visit, Mrs Morgan discussed a wide range of issues including service provision, integration between the bus and rail stations, station accessibility, signage improvements, left luggage provision and station management during key events.
Mrs Morgan said:
It has been a worthwhile visit, which has provided me with a valuable insight into the operations and management of the station. It is clear that much has been done to enhance the station in recent years and it is vital that these improvements continue for the benefit of rail users and Cardiff as the capital city of Wales.
Mike Hurley, area manager for Arriva Trains Wales, said:
The visit was an excellent opportunity to meet with one of our key stakeholders. We were able to listen to Mrs Morgan's views on developments within the station and where further improvements could be made, which can be considered as part of our review into customer service delivery improvements at stations across our network.
