Arriva North East lends a helping paw!
16 January 2004
Arriva’s Stockton depot lent a helping paw when it allowed the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association familiarise a puppy with the layout of a bus before she goes out on the road and learns how to guide a person with a visual disability on to and off the bus.
Marjorie Springett, who brought puppy Zandra to the depot, said:
Your inspector, Peter Bailey, could not have been more helpful and I was thrilled to see how Zandra coped with the new experience of a bus… watching how the pup managed the steps, the seats and the new environment, I was encouraged.
Ian Shilton, a manager at Stockton depot was delighted to be able to help:
At Arriva we always try to reflect and support the communities we serve and we have a long standing association with the RNIB so when Mrs Springett asked if she could bring the puppy along, we were very pleased to help.
