Arriva gives police helping hand in the fight against crime
28 July 2003
Arriva the Shires and Essex has done its bit towards fighting crime by donating an out of service bus which the police are now using as part of crisis and firearms training.
Engineering director, Brian Barraclough, was approached by the police who asked if they could buy an old bus that would otherwise be sent for scrap. Brian explains:
We are always keen to work with the police and to offer them whatever support we can. When we realised the importance of the training they intended to use the bus for we found a suitable vehicle and donated it.
The bus is being used by representatives from a number of different forces as a permanent firearms training venue and is based at Bedfordshire Police's Luton premises.
