Sue brings sunshine to bus customers

12 May 2003

A friendly local bus driver has brought so much sunshine to her customers on Arriva services that the company has been deluged with letters full of praise.

Rhyl-based Arriva bus driver, Sue Hughes, has received a number of compliments from customers delighted by the journeys they have experienced on Sue's bus.

In particular, a number of pensioners who have only started using the bus since free travel was introduced for OAPs by the Welsh Assembly, have commented on how enjoyable their first experiences of bus travel were - thanks to Sue.

Bernadette Williams from Holywell described Sue as:

So pleasant that I was home before I knew it,

and Margaret Toft commented that:

Sue is always so pleasant and a pleasure to travel with.

Mrs T Evans even goes one step further asking for Sue to be

nominated as bus driver of the year after she got off the bus and moved some wheelie bins so some elderly passengers could get off safely.

Tom Balshaw, operations director for Arriva North West and Wales 's Wales operations said:

I am delighted that Sue's professionalism and courtesy have been recognised. Many of our bus drivers also receive praise and it is encouraging that customers take the time to tell us when they have had an excellent journey.
