Guidance for applicants
Arriva seeks to build sustainable community relationships that are relevant to the group's activities across its operating areas. The aim is to deliver value for the communities it serves whilst reinforcing their relationship with the group.
Our community relations activities aim to reflect and embrace the brand values of the group. Community relations practices vary in different countries according to local custom and we believe that decisions are best taken locally within the operating business on the appropriate level of involvement.
As well as providing financial help, where practical and appropriate, Arriva uses its areas of expertise and resources to support its community partners and to help develop sustainable relationships. As a people business we value, encourage and celebrate the contribution our employees and others make to the communities we serve.
Arriva provides support to charities and projects that make a direct contribution to the communities we serve.
Examples of areas that are likely to meet this objective are listed below:
Development and working in partnership
Partnership working with suitable organisations is a feature of our community relations programme. We aim to build long-term relationships with community partners, not just for the benefit of the charity or community organisation, but also for the benefit of the company. Our support may be financial or practical, and sometimes involves the direct support of our employees.
Employees in the community
Many of our employees give their time to local community groups and projects. We recognise these efforts through our Arriva Community Action Awards initiative, which makes cash awards available to employees for their community organisations.
