Traditionally the Spanish bus market has been diverse, with many operators, however a number of larger bus groups are now emerging.
In 2008, Arriva more than doubled the number of buses it operates in Spain with the acquisition of Empresa de Blas y Cia S.L. in Madrid.
We have focused on building a strong presence in the greater Madrid area, and we are well placed to benefit from any market developments.

Arriva acquires bus operator Empresa de Blas y Cia S.L. and its subsidiary companies in Madrid.
2007
Arriva acquires two Madrid-based bus companies, Esfera providing school contract and private hire bus services and coach operator Autocares Fray Escoba.
2002
Arriva buys Autocares Mallorca SL and Donate Amenguel Ramis SL of Mallorca.
1999
Arriva acquires two bus companies in Galicia, north-west Spain: Mercancias Ideal Gallego and Transportes Finisterre.
